History

Everything started in the 1980s.

Nippon Fine Chemical's research into phospholipids began in the 1980s.

We first looked at phospholipids for their possible use in pharmaceutical applications.
This was first commercialized as a product in 1986.

The process began by extracting phospholipids from eggs sold in the supermarket,
then synthesizing phosphatidylglycerol from these and
cabbage-derived enzymes to trigger a chemical reaction.
This let us develop a technique for reliably synthesizing phospholipids.

Since that time,
we have continued our research and development and created a manufacturing system for
pharmaceutical additives, which are used in many pharmaceutical products.

The research started with us! The research started with us!

Meanwhile, our researchers began exploring if phospholipids could be used in cosmetics.
Through repeated trial and error, we succeeded in creating Presome™ for cosmetic use in 1997.
